There is no pause in the march of the Universe

Another lap around the sun complete.

Goodbye 2012.

Hello 2013.

I've had an amazing year.

I moved to Chicago, started a new job, traveled to Europe, traveled all over the United States, made new friends, developed relationships and created a happy, simple life that I love.

Each year you can't help but spend these last couple of days reflecting and wondering how to make the upcoming year better than the last.

I wondered.

While I was wondering, I cleaned.

I cleaned out the refrigerator...my closets...the linen closet...the bathroom cabinets and reorganized the kitchen cabinets.
Within it all...I tossed out food I didn't want to eat anymore...I got rid of three bags full of clothes.  I chucked makeup and a bunch of junk that had accumulated and it all had me thinking about change...about making mistakes...about trying to fix flaws and find potential...all on one day of the year.

What am I going to do in 2013?

I have decided...

I'm going to keep learning.
I'm going to continue to challenge myself to look for my potential.
I am going to hope for change.
I am going to hope I keep making mistakes because that means I'm trying new things...taking chances and that is a wonderful way to move forward.

At the stroke of midnight...the march of the Universe brings us to 2013!

Happy HAPPY New Year!

God's country

Welcome to KAMAS...

Gateway to the Uinta's

The Wasatch Mountain Range

It's almost as if I can hear my mom give a little gasp and silently say, "God's country..."

We had the most wonderful time in the mountains...out in the air...just gliding along...chatting...laughing and being together.
L to R: Stephanie, Vee and Sunny

Snow covered landscape

Taking time to slow down...appreciate the wonders of nature
and the company of good friends.

I love this place.

Best coffee in the Wasatch!

Homemade cookies and lattes...
Rose colored cheeks...
Memories made...

Thank you Steph and Vee! xo

New traditions.

I love traditions.

We have many.

One of them is that every Christmas we make cookies.

Typically, we make buckeyes with Katie.

This year we decided to do something different and make sugar cookies from scratch!

Lots of sugar!

This little wisk just looks cute...but doesn't really get the job done.

Butter, eggs and sugar...how can you go wrong?

This hand mixer had flour all over the kitchen ;(

Best way to get the job done is to dive right in...

I'll be honest...I tried to roll the dough and could not do it??!!
It was all lumpy and wouldn't smooth out...I was losing patience.
I just wanted a cookie...with extra icing!!
Vee took over and let me know they needed to be of a certain thickness in order for them to be perfect.

And perfect they were.

Star light...star bright...

First star I see tonight...

I wish I may...
I wish I might...
Have the wish I wish tonight...

I hope you got everything you wished for this Christmas...

Graveyard shift....

"Bella is up in the basket in the closet...Charlie is trying to kill me as usual!"

The pet sitter left this under the 'notes' section from her time with my girls this week.

I started laughing...

In fact, I called Vee laughing so hard she couldn't even understand me...I had to send her this picture of the note.

It's true...Charlie can be a real bitch...she is fiercely loyal to me...and completely protective of her home.  But, she is also harmless if you simply leave her alone...

Doesn't she looks so sweet...please note pet sitter thinks Charlie Martin is a he ;/

A picture of Bella Fox up in the basket in the closet...

Thankfully, Teresa keeps coming back...killing her slowly...to say the least.

The holiday

I have arrived in Utah!
What a beautiful place to spend the holidays!

We spent the day together...chewing the fat at Starbucks and enjoying the view.

We made a quick pit stop on Main Street to ditz in our favorite boutiques and what a suprise...ran into one of my favorite people, my friend Jill!
Tonight we are off to the Shop to celebrate the Winter Solstice in Park City.
I'm looking forward to celebrating the holidays now that I've arrived!

Force Majeure

My bags were carefully placed by the door for an early departure this morning.

However, the extreme weather...this act of God, prevented me from boarding the plane this morning.

As disappointed as I am...they have rescheduled me to arrive tomorrow.

The women at the airline originally said the first flight out was Monday afternoon and I would arrive around 7:30 p.m.

Christmas Eve.

I didn't say anything...I finally muttered softly...What?  Did I hear you correctly?  That simply won't do.

Are there any other options?

She placed me on hold...and I am not joking...all said and done almost two hours later...she booked me on a United flight.  Taking off in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow.

She said, you're lucky...I have no idea how this happened...someone must be looking out for you!

So, I have the day to do whatever it is I want.  And although I won't be spending it with my sister as planned...I'll see her tomorrow and it will still be a very Merry Christmas!

The weather outside is...

predicted to be frightful!

They say high winds...rain turning to snow...thunder and all of that means...cancelled flights.

Current weather conditions in Chicago...34 degrees with a light rain...hmm...

I'm on my way to Park City, Utah tomorrow to spend Christmas with Vee and Craig in the mountains.

I can't wait!

Beautiful lights

Snow capped mountains

Utah is breathtaking...

I've packed my bags and everything is ready.

I can't wait to spend six days with my sister!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Behind every psycho is a great woman!

Hitchchock...go see it!

A love story between the influential filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) during the filming of Psycho back in 1959.

I loved it and I don't do scary.  In fact, it wasn't scary at all, which when we decided to see it, I was positive it was going to be.  It's Hitchcock after all!

I loved the movie theater.  It was quaint, out-dated and offered one of these 'comment' boards for all of the movies playing.  Interestingly enough, it is on your way out of the theater -- perhaps so you don't skip seeing the movie you went in to see if it was peppered with the worst reviews.

You knew we would leave comments, didn't you?

Mine on top in pink: A man is nothing without a woman! Hitchcock = excellent!

Vee in the middle in pink: With all my applause!

Amanda on the bottom in yellow: Master cast for the Master of Suspense - excellent!

Anna Karenina
Based on the chat board...it appears we should skip it.

HA! I may agree and I haven't even see it...period pieces aren't my cup of tea.

Afterwards we went to Canyon, one of Amanda's favorite restaurants.
I loved the cozy atmosphere and the food was amazing.

Amanda suggested this tomato salad and at first I was like eh, tomato salad?
But once I tried it...DELICOUS!!
It had just the right amount of dressing and they brought this toasted parmesan crispy bread with it.

This was a fried pork something another.
It was a featured special and although it looks like art...I'd skip it next time.
We split it and well...the person who got the middle part (Vee) loved it the best and insisted it was amazing...I'm not sure we ate the same thing.
You win some, you lose some.

Something happens when I see a fancy mac n' cheese on the menu.
It becomes all I notice.  Seriously, I had to try it.
Winner!
How can you go wrong, right?

What a wonderful day it was!
Cheers!

Just add water

S'up?
Have you ever tried stand up paddling/surfing?
It is so much fun and I highly recommend it.

Amanda had a great weekend planned for our visit and her amazing friend Sharon joined us on a little water excursion.

We cruised through the mangroves that created miles of endless water roads.  Although, certainly not as graceful, watching the movement of Vee and Sharon paddling reminded me of the Venice Gondoliers.

Introducing my new friend, Sharon!
It honestly felt like I had known her for years.  She is so full of life, constantly smiling and had us laughing all day long.

SUP can be as easy or as challenging as you make it.  This water wasn't as rough as the ocean but it still provided a great workout...offered some zen moments as we wound our way through the mangroves and an opportunity to be out in the sunshine with each other.

I can't wait to go back!

Pumped up kicks

I got some new runners.

Do you ever need something new to bring back the motivation?

I do.

With all the traveling and after work obligations it has been hard to stay consistent.

This weekend, I put on my new blue shoes and found my way to the gym.

Even with all the rain...I walked around the city exploring and buying Christmas gifts.

I hope you had a great weekend and are all set for the holidays!

Bring it on Santa...I'm ready!
